Stables & South Wing 2nd Floor

Program:

The new phase of restoration will be focusing on the two floors of the south wing where originally housed the stables and storage areas. These large open spaces will be designed into four sections to accommodate galleries to house both permanent and rotating exhibitions.

The first floor will also have a small Grab & Go Cafe. A new courtyard on the south side of the mansion will provide a pleasant space for the visitors to enjoy their refreshments. Also, a small souvenir shop will be part of the first floor design.

The two floors will be connected with a new interior stairs and a small elevator. The auxiliary/utility building on the south side of the main building to be restored and the new stairs within this building will be used as the main means of egress from the 2nd floor.

The artifacts collected from the restoration of Statue of Liberty will be on a permanent display on the 1st floor.

The Belcourt Museum will collaborate with international artists and artisans to utilize some of the material preserved from the Statue of Liberty, to express in various artistic forms, in order to advocate and advance the principals of what the Statue of Liberty represents. These pieces will be displayed at the Liberty Collection Belcourt Gallery as well as other locations.

Also displayed on the 1st floor, will be an exhibition of Rhode Island jewelry manufacturing history, past and present.

The second floor will be housing the exhibition space for the Armenian Heritage. It will showcase the Armenian culture and history, their struggles and contributions. The gallery will have permanent and rotating exhibitions.

The other half of the space will be dedicated to changing exhibitions with different themes throughout the year.

Scope Of Work:

  • Remove the existing interior walls per plan.

  • Install new wood floor and finish.

  • Restore all the existing windows.

  • Restore all the existing doors.

  • New bathroom on the west wing (next to Office #1).

  • Redesign the two existing bathrooms.

  • Rearrange the entry to the office #2.

  • Install a new open staircase to the 1st floor.

  • Install a new elevator lift for HC use.

  • Restore and install wainscoting on the west wing.

  • Spackle and paint all walls.

  • Lightly sand & clear coat the exposed rafters and posts.

  • Restore the existing west wing stairs and its 1st floor foyer and exit door.

  • Fabricate and install retail space fixtures.

  • Fabricate and install the skylight under the clock tower.

  • Clean and install lights inside the clock tower.

  • Install new lighting as needed for the galleries.

  • Install wall outlets per code and as needed.

  • Install fire alarm system per code.

  • Provide HVAC for the entire space.
